I'm Back :)

hellooo again :)

so i 'left' this like back in april haha, im sorry but yeah.. but i'm back xD hopefully. er loads of things have happened with me and the pea but nothing too major. got a new instructor like a couple of months ago and a trailer but he's being a bit of a grump for loading though his work has come on quite a bit. its a bit on off, one day/week he's good, another he's not : and it's getting tough cause out of 4 arena's i only have one to ride in at nights, and on a yard with loads of others its gonna get tricky : err yeah dunno what else to say, plus i cba sorryy!

update later, promise :)

The Past Week

Well the past week has had its ups and downs :)

Last sunday I did a showjumping clinic and whilst the jumping was rather good, then in between wasn't and i fell off when he suddenly napped at the gate and did a mini rear and buck :/ Kate said that i should attempt jump off styles so that we get to the fence quickly as he is good once he focuses on the jump.

Thursday i had my lesson and i was rather impressed with my staying on skills. Paddy seemed a bit fresh and when he was behaving he was pretty good, but he was constantly naughty as well, bucking and rearing with the odd launch! Annoying!

Took him to his first show today away from home. It was just a dressage and we didn't get placed but we didn't come last for a change either! He had a few tantrums in the test which was annoying, and he wouldn't relax so it probably looks awful but I was happy. Though he hated the plants there! He wasn't too happy with me either cause I got to the field and he was flat out fast asleep and didnt want to get up :\ Then he was constantly fidgeting whilst I was trying to plait him up, and then got annoyed about having a bath. Honestly.

But he was rather stupid. I tied him up outside in the sun after his bath and there was a towel hanging over the rail. So dippy pony decided to pick up in his mouth, only to spook at it and run round the yard spooking but with the towel still in his mouth. It was rather entertaining!

One step forward means two steps back

Well Paddy was in a truly awful mood. Fiona blames the weather cause it was a bit cold and wet, but it wasn't. She blames the weather cause the last time he was as naughty as he was today was when it was freezing with snow.

But anyway, I was hoping to do some dressage practise but Paddy thought not. He was walking alright and then got sluggish so I gave him a tap with the whip so he bucked, so I kicked him on just for him to rodeo (rear then buck) and he did the constantly everytime I put my leg on. Then Fiona came to chase him a bit with the whip, which normally gets him going, instead he did a bigger rear and buck twice. Idiot! haha. So I got nothing done in that session and I put him on the lunge, and he knew he was in trouble to cantered nicely on one rein, before tryingto kill be again on the other rein by refusing to move, just swinging his bum and bucking. Not happy today.

Bought him a fly mask which he looks slightly rediculous but seeing as he hates the flies cause he's always headshaking I figured he needed one! haha!

And i tried to pull his mane, another thing he hates, so we didn't get far with that. Time to get Fiona to sort it out as it will need plaiting up! ha!

Academy Lesson

I loooooveee my pony (:

He was amazing today in the mentor lesson. He misbehaved a couple of times but was overall amazing :) He worked so hard bless him and omg he was just amazing tbh :)

Yesterday he was pretty good at the flatwork, then we went on a hack, raced up the hill against tilly (it started as a nice canter, then she made it a race - haha) then he trotted behind jacks bum so she stopped and Paddy ignored me and ran into the back of him. Haha, luckily Jack didn't do anything.

EEeeeeekk :) Oh and i made a new video, not amazing but still go hunt it; 'You're my destiny [9 months] LB&PP

New Record

I love my horsee :D

apart from when he tries to kill me :\

I lunged him first, well I attempted and he wouldn't. Instead he kept kicking out, then was like 30cm from kicking me in the chest. Pretty lucky he didn't, though I was then very cautious of his back end! I ended up wasting about 20-30 minutes attempting to lunge which didn't happen so I jumped on board instead. He was rather naughty on the flatwork and there were some tiny jumps up, so I got off and put them up. I came into the first cross pole and he was off and jumped all of them so nicely so I got off again and put 4 of them, including a double, up to 2ft6 and he jumped them all amazing again and then got too excited and cantered off bucking, and I did not want a reconstruction of my last academy lesson so decided to end it there.

Dressage

Did prelim 10 today on the ponyy :) I was very proud of him, he was so good for me. Still trying to canter and plenty of areas which we could have done better but after the way he has been going this week I was happy. We came last, again, but ah well. He was against tough competition again and after the journey we have had/still have I couldn't be more proud. I know there have been plenty of times when I have said that I hate him and want to give up, but truthfully he is my perfect horse. I would hate to have a horse who is good to ride all the time, I would pick him any day because at least I can see our improvement. I may not trust him and I may be scared to ride him, but he is fantastic and he has given me so much more than I could have ever asked for in any horse. I truely could not thank him enough for what he has done and I hope we have a long future ahead of us :)

Guess whatt!

yep, fall number 11 :) im getting rather good at this huh? haha.

so i decided to do some flatwork, and i had literally just got on and walked like half a 20m circle when he stopped, bucked, then launched in the air to buck. haha!

after that he worked nicely :) But i didnt get any videos :( so it will probs just be the 9month one - sorryy!

April 1st - Ha :)

Well I got a call last night asking if I could go down because Paddy had a cut. So off i walked to the yard to sort the silly pony out :\ Honestly, I have never known a pony to get so many cuts!

Today I went up, and he made his cut worse by getting it dirty and nosing it all the time causing more blood to come out :\ I hosed it for 5 mins then applied purple spray so he has a nice purple leg which better clear off for sunday cause I have a dressage competition :)

We did some jumpies todayy and he was a rather good boy. Though i did fall off (yes fall number 10) though I don't quite know how other than remembering a buck haha! And no one saw cause they asked me what happened haha! He was very good with his jumping though and we did a new height which i think might be 2ft6 or just under :D

I will get a flatwork video tomorrow cause i only got a tiny bit of jumping today so will hopefully make a video, and then make a huge 9 month one the week after so keep an eye on my youtube, yeahh??!

Getting There :)

Yes yes, i have forgotten to blog in a while so as usual i have forgotten where i was.

Well last sunday I had my lesson which I was rather nervous about because the day before I asked for trot and he just stopped and did his new trick of mini rear, buck and spin all at the same time : But luckily he was extremely well behaved in my lesson and didnt buck once :D We did some leg yielding, which i think he is finally starting to get the hang of and also some figures of 8 in canter with simple changes through walk and trot to try and get him a bit calmer with his canter, though that didnt seem to happen too well. Haha :)

Tuesday was both good and bad. He started off being naughty so i rode on the lunge for a short bit, then took him off and he was very good and we practised the figures of 8 again and he soon calmed down. I decided at the end to do some leg yielding but Paddy thought he was finished so argued a lot causing him to have to be put back on the lunge cause he wouldnt let me ride on the lunge, so we did that, popped back on and then got a bit though he decided to act like he didnt know what to do. Silly pony.

Thursday I just lunged because the arenas were being used so the only free one was the one that has no fencing due to it being re-done. He was a good boy once he got started, but it took a while to get started in the first place :(

Saturday was rather windy and also jumpcross was on and he was right at the back of the field, and then wheni got him to the gate he saw jumpcross and ran off : Honestly, i do rather dislike him at times! I finally got him in and was not looking forward to riding seeing as the last time i rode in the wind he just messed around cantering off bucking and spooking at everything. But he was rather good because i decided to do some jumps seeing as a nice height was up for us :) He was a very good boy, a bit forward going but that was more due to not jumping in 2 weeks and cause it was windy so i was happy :)

Sunday we went on a hack with fiona and jaffa :) He was perfect, he even walked past the dreaded shetlands. Well this time they didnt come running and jaffa walked between paddy and the monsters so he was safe, though he did keep looking at them :) Then we had a long trot, followed by a long canter, then a long trot again because he didnt want to stop haha :)

It's all coming together

Well yesterday i didnt think so. I hadnt ridden all week cause of coursework and stuff, though he had still been worked. And then i get on him and he walked nicely, very enthusiastically so i decided it was time for a trot. But no. That wasn't on the agenda. He leapt in the air, bucking and spinning all at the same time. I was so scared and i dont see how i managed to stay on tbh. I wish i had got it on camra. So i decided to get off and lunge, then i got back on and he was a bit better so we popped over a cross pole. The first time he zoomed off but the second time he did it a lot better. I think its the spring grass :(

Then today i had my lesson. To say i was scared is an understatement. But i got on and he was perfect all the way through and didnt buck once. We did some leg yielding on a circle, changes of rein cause we rush through them and then some figures of eight in canter with changes through walk and trot :)

He is losing sooo much hair at the moment :( And he has been out in a light weight all week and made the most of that, then last night i turned him out without a rug and he had a good old role and got filthy, though luckily some seemed to have disappeared cause he weren't too bad today :)

Combined Training

Well i did the combined training at the yard yesterday (15 March) and he was alright :)

In the dressage we came last which was as expected but i was still very pleased with him. He was a bit too keen so wouldnt soften much and my riding was appalling. We made tons of mistakes on accuracy like you are meant to canter, then trot at k and walk at A and we only just managed to go from canter to walk at F haha. ah well :) it was only his second.

Then i decided to do 2ft clear round, his first sj comp and I was very proud of him. We had one down which was my fault because he got too excited so we didnt make the turn then i didnt get a good line. Ah well i was extremely happy and he got a rossette saying 'oops' (Y) haha.

im in the process of making a video :)

Warmer Weather = Better Pony

Haven't blogged for a short while, whoops!
So i don't remember the last time i blogged but i'll go from my lesson last wednesday!

He has been going so well at the minute, so we reckon that he was naughty cause of the cold weather. Silly pony. Last wednesday he was amaze in my lesson. As per usual, he wouldn't lunge until charlotte chased him a bit. Then i rode him on the lunge and he started lacking in his trot so i smacked him and he helpfully gave me a bucking fit in canter. Daft pony! But he was very good, even when we were off the lunge. He did have another stroppy moment near the end cause he thought we had finished because i got off to mount again to practise my assessment and then when i asked for trot he mucked around before barging out the arena again :

Thursday and Saturday he wasn't behaving so we won't go there. haha!

Sunday I had my academy lesson. I was aprehensive because it was a group so I didn't know how he would behave. I fell off within the first 5 minutes cause he had a right strop and my leg swung over his back and I knew it would hurt to keep my leg in the stirrup so i let it fall. But for the rest of the lesson he was rather good :) He did have to get chased occassionally but that was too be expected. He got rather excited in his canter and when we did poles haha. And then jumping he was alrightish. Still needs improvement! And then we went to jump and upright and as I nudged him into trot he got excited and cantered off bucking with excitement, we went over a jump we weren't meant to and then he tripped over and so i fell off. And then as he got up he scratched me slightly on my back. Luckily nothing serious just a bit of pain, so i walked round on him for a bit before doing the upright.

Hoping to do some competitions soon :) And a video at some point!

Silly Pony =D

So i do happen to love my horse, even though we were considering selling him because he was being an idiot all week.
I cant remember if I told you about our hack on sunday, though i think i did :)

So yesterday (thursday) i had a lesson and i was dreading it, but he was a rather good boy. I rode on the lunge to start with and practised bending him and smacking him when he starts to slow down. He was a very good pony, and we rode off the lunge as well. He got rather excited when we were going from walk to trot and got very responsive - haha.

Today i took him on a little hack. No one was around so we had to go on our own, something new for the pea. He set of all happy, and we trotted along past his field before he got tired. So we walked and then got to the corner to go along the straight and he point blanked refused, determined that i was either going to ride him home or he would throw me off. So instead i led him alll the way along the straight : then got on to go down the hill, just for him to muck about again, even though he was nearly home sort of :S So i led him again, then when i got back on we cantered up the hill, and then trotted all the way down the road and he kept trying to canter. So much for not meaning to do too much on the road in case he goes lame : ah well.

Got a jumping clinic tomorrow. Im well scared! haha!

Hackk :)

Well i am not going to go into all the details of how Paddy has been going cause it hasnt been good tbh. He had 10 days off with the snow as well so..

But yesterday i decided to go for a little hack with Fiona and Jaffa. I was a bit unsure what to expec because Jaffa can be a little excitable but Paddy was all good. He was plodding along happily and stopped each time Jaffa had a naughty moment and either span round or banged into Paddy. Haha. And the time he spooked at a snowball so Paddy stood still for a minute until Jaffa got past it and then Paddy walked past it with his spooky face on - only he didnt know what he was meant to be spooking at. Haha. And then we met the shetlands. And Paddy truely does hate the shetlands. He arched all up, his head high in the air so i jumped off and although Jaffa had gone ahead fine, Paddy really wouldnt. I couldn't lead him past them cause he was trying to shoot off everytime they moved. His tail was high almighty in the air and he was snorting non stop. Haha! He makes me laugh. So Fiona had to dismount and come along to Paddys rescue :) haha. And then later on we tried a trot and paddy let out a huge buck. Not happy. And then dwn the road we were trotting and Paddy coughed so he could pull the reins and go faster. Daft bat. And then Fiona and Jaffa nearly got ran over because Jaffa decided not to budge off the road and trotted straight towards a car. Haha made me laugh so much :)

So the pea was good yesterday and thats been all the good work hes done. Might take him for a hack again tomorrow if i can get him out or have another argument in the arena. Tbh idk what is going to happen with him. :

Not posted for a while.

Well we havent done loads. Last tuesday he was really naughty and reinjured my shoulder, so on thursday i could only lunge and he was a good boy.

Saturday i had a lesson and he was awful to lunge and just refused, even my instructor couldnt get him to lunge! So i rode him and he was very good, though he had an over exaggerated bucking fit and i fell off! He tried to run off but i quickly got him and got straight back on and he was very good.

Sunday he was reallly really naughty. The person who helps me with him got on him first and he had a huge bucking fit with her - which he doesnt do - and she 'fell off' then got kicked by him. We are going to talk to my instructor and maybe get someone like a physio to look at him if needs be.

And i havent been up since sunday and fiona hasnt been abl to ride him either because of the snow. Though i did take a walk over for some pictures today :)

Also a new video on youtube with pictures and a video of my cat :) in the snow.

Urghh..

the arena was disgusting : I couldnt go in the front because it was jam packed, i hate the jumping so i went in the sunken. There was literally one strip i could use. haha. luckily it had a grid up.
Paddy does make me laugh at how he hates boggy areas, and just stops and snorts at them. He's a daft thing :) but i hate his new trick, he spins round and bucks. Grrr!
and i do love how brave he is at jumping at times :) i lowered the grid and with the last upright put the white ladder filler thing laying under it and he jumped it first time :) he's so clever..at times.
i have a lesson tomorrow : i seriously dont want it. aha. never do!

It's a long month..

Okay, so i dont know whether i said this friday but im going to have to work really hard with pea over the next month. Its going to be tiring, fustrating and painful. Already is. But hopefully (fingers crossed) it will be well worth it.

So yesterday i was going to do some jumping but the ground was balling up in his feet after 5 mins of lunging so decided against it and went for a little hack instead with my dad on foot. He was alright, didnt want to go up the road but once he got on the grass he was fine. And then he spooked at the flags so needed help to cross the road.

Today i was going to do some jumping after failing yesterday but the pea was in a right group. Think hes trying to be tired. He tried to kick me when i first asked him to go on the lunge, then he didnt want to canter. Then he was finally good, i got on him and he walked nicely but because it was incredibly windy he decided to spook at everything and wouldnt go any faster than a walk before stopping completely. So fiona popped on board and he argued but then went fine. And then i get back on and he tried it on, then walked everywhere. Fiona had to go to work, so i was left on my own extremely fustrated so i put paddy on the lunge and gave him a right telling off and then i got on and he tried it on again so i growled a lot and finally got a bit of trot and canter so left it there. God there's going to be a lot of work in the jumping arena. Haha.

And just to let you know, the 6 month video will be a bit late cause i want more footage. But i am in the process of making 'a new start' video :)

Add 2 more..

..to the fall off list. Now its a total of 8 in 6 months. I guess that's alrightish, but im not used to falling off so much!

well after neglecting my pony all week :( i had a lesson today. He was going soo nicely, but because he has no fitness levels, he decided enough was enough and got me off twice as well as running out the arena with me. but i was happy with him, he did do well but now i have to stop letting him think he can get away with things and do some serious work with him so that hopefully in a month things will start to click in place :)

:D might take him on a walk trot hack sunday if the grounds okay to get him fitter. he needs to be for the show schedule and work schedule im hoping for this year!

No One Reads This

and so I am going to have a rant about my pony..again

There will be a 6 month video which will contain some stuff :\

Anyway, I actually had another meltdown but I haven't had one in a while tbh. He just would not do anything and I wondered why I bought him. Why have I had to go through 6 months of hard work and fustration and still have all this fustration and anger? Clearly it's me if 'he works fine with fiona' My confidence is at a serious low now, I daren't argue or smack because of the consequence. I haven't fallen off in 3 months and I don't want to and that's why I daren't smack him. I built the confidence up to smack him on the bum. I did that twice but it took courage and since thursday I have lost confidence when he bucked about 5 times and I didn't even smack him. I can hardly vary his work because I am so nervous :( I thought we had come so far I take it I was wrong?

There's millions more I could write, but I think I would get really upset :\
